- KS>>>Hose them down with chemical cleaning agent.
- KS>>That's even ruder than the sign.
-
- (I should have known SOMEONE would take this seriously...)
-
- KS>Only to the people possessing said fench. I've always believed that (for
- KS>example) if someone's yelling comments at the movie screen at a theatre,
- KS>it's better to be extremely rude to them than let them be rude to everyone.
-
- Apples and oranges. Strange definition of rude. People yelling at a
- movie screen are willfully and consciously being rude. Some poor schmuck
- who believes a tv ad and buys the wrong deodorant deserves the same
- treatment? Is your school's basketball team "rude" because they work up
- a sweat?
-
- Maybe we should also start in on people with poor fashion sense?
-
- Naive is not the same as rude.
-
- All of this grew out of a snide comment about a sign. I didn't think
- anyone took it seriously, but maybe I was wrong.
-
- In case you don't get the point, we are trying to promote the fandom
- with these events. Acting like a bunch of college pranksters will really
- trash that. If a cartoon skunk is taken as a putdown of this field,
- what would be the result of such mean and childish behavior?
-
- And NO, it is NOT just rude to the person involved. It is off-putting to
- many attending or thinking of attending such an event. Who in their
- right mind would want to have anything to do with such smartasses?
-
- (I know, other smartasses...)
-
- It would also tend to offend our (pro) guests.

- KS> "Even not showering through the entire con doesn't create a fench...
-
- Then you've never been to a con in a big city hotel (or much of
- anywhere else, I imagine). If you had, you would know how easy it is to
- get overheated running up and down stairways because there aren't enough
- elevators. Especially in the winter, when you have coats and such to
- help when you walk into the (over)heated areas.
-
- Of course, none of that was needed at Worldcon, in Florida. Goo-ey!
-
- IMPORTANT NOTE: No, I am NOT defending people with poor hygiene. The
- fact is, there were only two people present at that gathering with a
- "scent" as far as I and my helper observed. Considering the number
- present (which was not small) this was not too bad. Better, in fact,
- than many Star Trek, Dr. Who, or comic cons I've been to over the last
- two decades. Or public transit, for that matter.
-
- KS>ObFurry: Any news on Reed Waller?
-
- Reed is well on the road to recovery. In fact, the Reed Waller fund at
- Confurence will be closed at the end of the year, to be replaced with
- another fund. (More on that later.)
