  18. But if that were true, then Garion would never have any evil intentions.
  19. Ever. During his entire life.  Are you really prepared to say that he was a
  20. "saint"?  What about the time he burned Asharak the Grolim?  Or any of the
  21. times he got into a fight, and killed people with no compunctions?  I seem
  22. to remember, "Garion demanded unthinkingly, 'What did you do that for? That
  23. was _my_ Murgo!'"  (when someone else killed _his_ Murgo, poor Garion!)
  24. Hardly a bastion of morality.  So far, the general consensus seems to be
  25. that those who can now touch the Orb are:
  26. a) those without evil intent; those innocent and pure (ie, Eriond)
  27. b) those in the Rivan line (ie, Garion, Geran)
  28. Before, those who could touch it were:
  29. a) anyone.  Though people try and say, "Since Aldur touched it then, any
  30.    god can touch it now," that's not so.  _Anyone_ could touch it then.
  31.    Anyone, up to and including gods.  Since Torak used it, we have only
  32.    seen one god touch it, and he was innocent, so he qualified under that
  33.    rule, no need to invent a new one.
  34. Does this simplify things?  I know, everyone's sick of these postings, but
  35. this seemed necessary.
