- Why does everyone insist that Belgarath and Polgara are members
- of the Rivan line? The orb is usable by the descendants of Riva.
- This doesn't apply to inlaws. Using the same line of reasoning
- that allows Belgarath and Polgara to use the orb, we could say that
- Adara is capable of using the orb, because she's Garion's cousin.
- In fact, anyone related to anybody who's married into the Rivan
- line should be able to use the orb. After a thousand years or so,
- I suppose that half of Aloria will be capable of wielding the orb
- if they chose to do so. Riva was pure, so the orb allowed him to
- touch it. In fact, the bond between Riva and the orb grew so strong
- that the orb developed a fondness for all of his descendants. This
- doesn't mean that Riva's wife and her family have the same privileges.
- But then, I'm repeating myself. The point is that only Garion, his
- children, Eriond, or anyone who has no evil intentions in their soul
- can touch the orb. As for how the orb got on the shield, I believe in
- the theory that it was translocated. I believe that someone posted
- something to that effect a while back.
