- Sure, "My Sharona" has a beat and you can dance to it and I give it a 65. And
- although it ain't a Southern gentleman-like thing to say (I only own up to
- the Southern part), how can you disparage any entire album that contains the
- irreverent wit of "Good Girls Don't"? To my mind--which may explain the
- problem--this song is to rock what David Allen Coe's "You Never Even Called
- Me By My Name" is to country & western, i.e. the perfect song. GGD has a
- steady beat, encourages impressionable teens to do something that is both
- naughty and irresponsible (as opposed to current songs, which encourage
- them to commit suicide, which is exactly what I'd have been doing if I tore
- holes in the knees of my britches like they do), and still managed to get
- a right smart amount of air play while I was in college. Yup, that's the
- song I bought the album for. On the other hand, any rap star who wants to
- use "My Sharona" for sound effects (first song, side A), is welcome to it.
- I'll give you "My Sharona" if I can keep the rest of the album.
