- Why Simon, you sound almost "liberal" here... :-) This is exactly
- the kind of thing which is proposed by Al Gore. We are the Saudi Arabia
- of natural gas. It is high-time we took advantage of this, both as our
- major fuel source and as a potential export commodity.
-
- Natural gas is far less polluting, cheaper to get out of the ground (not
- to mention the huge amount of methane our agro community produces
- (no animal fart jokes please)), and new technologies have made its
- storage much safer.
-
- Second, given the relative stability of our society and the ease in which
- most gasoline driven engines can be converted to natural gas, I propose
- a campaign to convince other countries to convert to natural gas. This
- would provide them with a stable, cheap, and clean source of
- energy which is
- much safer to transport from an environmental stance, cut the
- middle east off from money they are using for war and human rights
- violation, and provide us with a huge export advantage while eliminating
- our major import headache.
-
- It is the right thing environmentally and economically. This would provide
- us with the kind of increased revenue to solve our debt problems and
- many of our chronic social problems.
