  17. Sometime ago I asked a question in many of the network newsgroups,
  18. about the lack of a sci.demography newsgroup. I received a luke warm
  19. response about creating such a newsgroup.

  21. Anyway to cut a long story short, I'm announcing the formation of a
  22. demographic mailing list. It is to be open to all, and have no
  23. censorship.

  25. The charter of the demographic-list mailing list follows:

  28. This mailing list is concerned with the discussion of Demography,
  29. and Demographic Techniques.
  30.  
  31. According to the United Nations Multilingual Demographic Distionary,
  32.  'Demography is the scientific study of human populations, primary
  33.   with respect to their size, their structure and their development'.
  34.  
  35. It is not just to be a forum for discussion and intellectual fray, but
  36. also a market-place for new ideas.
