- Here is something I thought would be of interest that I discovered last
- Friday. There are several music distibutors that sell cassettes, records
- and CDs produced by college wind ensembles. I got a catalog from one
- place and it includes many pieces that have been played by drum corps.

-
- I called and got a catalog from them. Here are some selected pieces
- available:
-
- Heroes, Lost and Fallen - Cav 1993
- Morning Alleluias - Cav 1993
- Gavorkna Fanfare - Cav 1992
- Chester Overture - Star 1992
- Savannah River Holiday - BK 1991, 87
- Aspen Jubilee - BK 1991
- Medieval Suite - Cav 1990
- Festival Variations - Cav 1987
- Var on a Korean Folk Song - Cav 1987
- Litergical Dances - Cav 1987
- Crown Imperial - Star 1989
- Festive Overture - SCV 1985, 86
- Fanfare and Allegro - SCV 1984
-
- and many, many more - over 600 recordings, 4000 works
-
- If you've ever been in a wind ensemble and been interested in getting
- recordings of works for band, here is a good place to look.
-
- I have one recording already - the Cincinnati Conservatory doing
- Gavorkna Fanfare. The performance quality and recording quality (it's a
- CD) are very good. BUT, I can't vouch for the quality of other recordings.
- I'm sure I'll be ordering a few CDs from them soon - esp. the
- Heroes Lost and Fallen and Morning Alleluias. I'll post my impressions
- of these recordings when they come in.

- They sell sheet music from many of the contempory composers, including
- David Holsinger. For promotional purposes, they sell cassettes that
- have the music that they sell (at cost). I just got from them four
- cassettes of band music including a To Tame the Perilous Skies. TTTPS
- is performed by the Bowling Green Wind Ensemble and, while it has a few
- perfomance flaws, it is a very nice performance. They also have a catalog
- which lists the music they sell and the cassettes they distribute. I'm
- sure people could get TTTPS from them at little or no cost.
-
- Check them out.
