- few years after the show opened, around 1952. But it sure sounded
- different.)
-
- Yeah, you really can't compare the '84 show to anything else in drum
- corps. Wow. Wow.
-
- I don't really like 'repeat' or 'best of' shows in general, I guess.
- Maybe my attention span is too short, but if I've heard it before,
- basically the same, then I'm not interested. Short signature things are
- OK, but if it's an actual part of the *show* instead of just a coda,
- forget it. Lots of people may get excited at the thought of the Scouts
- rehashing 'Slaughter' or whatever but not me. I can listen to records.
-
- I also tend to think that it's not fair to the kids in the corps. Sure,
- music is music, but there will inevitably be comparisons to the last
- time the corps played the music, and who needs that?
-
- And, when you have the immense power to expose people to new (or old
- but as yet unperformed by D&BC) music, why would you *want* to repeat
- yourself?
-
- Oh boy, Aaron. This is so well stated; I couldn't ever put it better
- myself. Too many examples come to mind (I turned off to the Blue
- Devils for a while because of this, and the Vanguard disappointed me
- when they'd carry over parts of shows to the next year; I felt that
- was a terrible crime to commit against the kids, but maybe somebody
- else has a different perspective on it that could change my mind).
-
- On the other hand, I can watch 'Dragnet' reruns for hours on
- Nickelodeon. Call me fickle.
-
- Okay, you asked for it. Maybe we should call you Aaron "Fickle"
- Oppenheimer (is that really what the "f" is for?).
-
- "Please Be Fabulous"
-
- Boy, talk about your job pressure, huh?
