- Discussion of the 1988 DCI Championships and Madison's victory have been
- discussed recently in the group. Here's who the real winners were for the
- past few years. These are IMHOs, of course, but I can see the flames coming
- :).
-
- 1987 SCV (even though I loved the Garfield production)
- 1988 SCV (EASILY!!!!)
- 1989 Phantom Regiment (SCV was too dirty)
- 1990 Cadets (Star was great but still had some dirt)
- 1991 Star
- 1992 Star

- Okay, I'll play the game (this oughta be both fun and painful):
-
- 1987 SCV (the most beautiful show in the history of DCI in my opinion,
- if for no other reason than the opener). The Cadets' show
- was pretty damned incredible, but I have to go with my
- personal favorite on this one.
- 1988 BD (I don't really care about this year, though)
- 1989 SCV (the correct corps won; I've talked about this over and over
- so I won't endlessly repeat myself here)
- 1990 no opinion, but I can't believe the Cadets won with a "Best of
- the Cadets" show. The idea of the (modern) Cadets doing a "Best
- of" show seems antithetical to the spirit of the corps to me. I
- lost a lot of respect for the corps because of this show. I'll
- get over it, I'm sure.
- 1991 Cavvies? Star? Star's show bored me to death, but technically
- it was pretty amazing. On the other hand, I only saw it on the
- broadcast. It's hard to get excited about a corps whose idea of
- dynamics never rises about mezzopiano. I mean,
- Higher-Faster-Louder isn't everything, but neither is
- Faster-Faster-Faster-At-The-Expense-Of-Any-Reasonable-Volume-Of-Sound.
- 1992 Cavaliers. My favorite shows were Cavvies, BD,
- Madison, and the Cadets. Star, in my mind, had no real shot
- (nice show, though).
