- From Oct 31 to Nov 7 I was driving from Boston to Petaluma California
- with my brother. The first night we made it to Erie PA. We randomly
- headed out into downtown Erie in search of a place to play pool and
- accidentally bumped into the LMBA (LakeShore Marching Band Assoc)
- Championships. The Storm Drum and Bugle corps from Erie PA and
- Dutch Boy both had recruiting booths set up. I talked a little
- to the guys from Storm (the guys at the Dutch Boy booth seemed VERY
- annoying). 93 was to be the first year out and they were very excited.
-
- After hearing (on alt.drumcorps) about Central High, McDowell, and
- General McLane, I was pretty anxious to see them. (the only reason
- we put up with the freezing cold... we were dressed for a pool hall,
- not a band show.)
-
- I was a little underwhelmed. McDowell had a show that was pretty well
- designed (Robin Hood) and had some nice visual moments, but I didn't
- get much else from any of the bands. Does anyone who has seen them
- before know if this was an off year for Central? Last year they were
- BOA Grand National Champions class "A" according to the program book.
-
- I'm pretty unfarmiliar with BOA... how are the classes set up?
