- A friend of mine who suffers from narcolepsy has/had hypnogogic
- hallucinations which were more or less like that, though she
- didn't specifically mention snakes. More like signs uprooting
- themselves from the roadside and chasms opening in the road ahead.

- That doesn't say whether or not the incident described was a "true"
- flashback, but suggests that there is at least one other explanation.
- Having that happen to someone I know, not during an actual trip,
- wouldn't have put me off LSD.

- If your friend's SO also exhibits a lot of daytime drowsiness or
- drinks a _lot_ of coffee and still conks out early he should probably
- talk with an MD, but I don't think there are any illnesses that
- _specifically_ have a symptom of seeing giant snakes in the road.
