  30. Poppers were Amyl Nitrate, a volatile liquid sold in capsules.  You broke
  31. open the capsule and inhaled the vapors.  I believe it is a short term 
  32. vasodilator.  I don't know if these things are still available, but in
  33. my youth the local "adult" book store use to sell various similar items in
  34. small bottles.  I think there were several formulas, one was butyl nitrate.
