  16.     Any basic text on medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry will have the
  17. information you seek.  In particular, I recommend Walter Sneader's book
  18. "Drug Discovery: the evolution of modern medicines" (Wiley).  It's not
  19. overly technical and is fascinating reading.
