- Pentathol, or thiopental sodium. It's the thio- (sulfur-) analogue of

- It could only be administered by someone experienced with such administration
- (usually an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist), because it can only be
- given intravenously. The solution is intensely alkaline, and can cause
- pain if the infusion isn't done right. If the solution gets into the
- surrounding skin or muscle it causes necrosis (tissue death), and if
- it's injected into an artery, it causes intense pain, arterial spasm
- and sometimes gangrene. I can imagine much easier and pleasant ways
- to die than a series of botched Pentathol injections.

-
- Like almost all barbiturates, thiopental is a Schedule II controlled
- substance. You can't get it w/o a DEA license. And you certainly
- wouldn't ever be able to be an Rx filled for it, since it's a substance
- which is designed for use in a hospital or clinic, and not for home use.
- It'd be a waste of time trying to make it.

-
- I think you and your wife should check yourself in to the nearest
- mental health center for evaluation.
