- |Interestingly, there is a thread on PROZAC in sci.med right now. This
- |might be a good thing cross-post there. On a biochemical level it would
- |probably not be difficult to guess the effects these two chemicals would
- |have on each other. It depends on what PROZAC does. Is it an antagonist?
- |Does it enhance/block reuptake or degradation of serotonin? For instance,
- |mono-amine oxidase activity cleaves the NH2 group off of the end of the
- |serotonin molecule, and replaces it with a double bonded oxygen (it also
- |gets rid of a hydrogen), marking it for excretion.
- |PROZAC could have numerous effects, some would cause a difference in LSD
- |activity, others might not.
-
- Well, firstly I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV nor does my
- doctor play on my tv.
-
- Secondly, it's called fluoxetine, not fluoroxetine or whatever it was
- someone said it was.
-
- Third, Prozac is not a tricyclic antidepressant (which most of 'em
- are, I believe), and, crap - I can't remember if it's an MAO Inhibitor
- or not. Undoubtedly someone on here will know.
-
- Fourth, if you're on Prozac, it's probably for a good reason, so keep
- that in mind. I, for one, don't suggest taking LSD when you're
- depressed.
-
- And lastly, as far as trip effects go, a FOAF says you might
- experience a quicker peak, swifter come down, less hallucinations.
- My FOAF isn't a doctor either, obviously.
