  23. I think I have a simple explanation for this.  Those of us who have become
  24. lucid know that if you attempt things that are too outragous, your mind won't
  25. let you do it--you'll fail or wake up.  You have to become very comfortable
  26. with things, perhaps step by step, before your mind will accept things that
  27. are very new to it.  I think death is something that few minds are willing to
  28. accept, since we don't really understand much about it.  So your dream goes as
  29. planned, until you realize you're faced with death--your mind defensively shuts
  30. the dream off and you wake up.

  32. In your mind, *anything* is possible.  You'll have to decide what happens to
  33. you after you die so that your dream may continue.  This old wive's tale is
  34. just that--since most people have never died in their dreams, it provides for
  35. an mysterious little story.

  37. An interesting side note:  I'm a skydiver.  I often think about dying in the
  38. sport.  When you're falling, you're going 110mph.  Relative to others in the
  39. air, however, you're not moving very fast at all.  I've had dreams about 
  40. people going in, but they always hit the ground at the slow rate that I've 
  41. seen others falling relative to me.  My mind just *cannot* imagine what it 
  42. looks like to see a human body hit the ground that fast!  My mind just fills
  43. in the best it can!
