  12. I've gotten _no_ responses for this.  If I haven't heard anything by
  13. Nov. 30, I will assume that everyone approves (though I'll have
  14. doubts about how much interest there is in this...) :)

  20. Well, we seem to have enough people to get a good experiment going...
  21. Time to make some decisions.  
  22. If anyone has any other ideas, please post to alt.dreams, and we will
  23. revise this proposal.  Some indication of approval would also be
  24. appreciated...

  26. Here is my proposal:

  28. Attempt to have a lucid dream any time (as often as possible)
  29. between the dates of Friday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 20.  When
  30. you find yourself lucid dreaming, use any means possible to find
  31. the scenario described below.  Attempt to interact with others there,
  32. and look for "personal objects" that others may have left.  Try to
  33. leave a personal object of your own for others to find.

  35. You are free to report to the Net that you made it to the Meeting
  36. Place in your dreams, but please do not post any details about the
  37. dream until the experiment is over.  Send email to our Third Person
  38. (who prefers to be called a "judge" -- I don't know why, ask him) :)
  39. containing all the details you can remember from the dream, especially
  40. any personal objects you found/left.  He will save & post the messages
  41. after the experiment, and if he sees possible correlations, he may 
  42. write back, asking specific questions about what you saw/left/did...
  43. (For example, if you left your wallet, he might ask for a description
  44. of the wallet & it's contents.  Another person who said they found
  45. a wallet would also be asked to give a description of the wallet & its
  46. contents...)

  52. The description of the dreamscape is as follows:

  55. vehicle: a broad river passing through all sleeping minds, in some places white
  56.          water flowing past huge slabs of rock and scattered boulders covered
  57.          with green algae and mosses, in other stretches, slow and wide,
  58.          -- even swampy at the edges with the water and land blending
  59.          gradually.  Thick wooded landscape.

  61. destination: A large mountain lake.  Clean and cold. Pines on the banks reflect
  62.              around the edges and the pale dusky sky across the middle.
  63.              The meeting place is at the far end of the lake, opposite the 
  64.              mouth of the river. A campsite is there.  Within a ring of
  65.              rocks a crackling fire consumes a pile of thick logs.
  66.              Away from the lake, beyond the campfire is a dead tree trunk,
  67.              weathered to a smooth silver-gray.  In the flickering light of
  68.              the fire it is bright against the dark forest behind it.
  69.              One stump of a limb projects out about four feet from the right
  70.              side of the trunk, six feet above the ground.  A foot and a half
  71.              up the trunk from the limb, the trunk branches into to two parts 
  72.              and then ends abruptly.  People can leave items at the foot of
  73.              the dead tree or hang them on the branch.
