- This is primarily intended to help anyone who wants to participate
- in the Dream Experiment but is not adept at lucid dreaming:

- There are several good ways to increase your chances of having
- a lucid dream. Here are a few:

- Remind yourself throughout the day to do "reality checks" --
- ask yourself "Am I dreaming right now?" It's helpful to leave
- notes for yourself around the places you'll be during the day
- (on your computer terminal, on the refrigerator, in a notebook, etc.)
- and/or set your watch to "beep" periodically (hourly), and use that
- as a reminder...

- Read books on lucid dreaming, talk about it with friends, post to the
- Net, anything that will get your mind on it throughout the day will
- be likely to keep it in your mind after you've gone to sleep.

- Keep a dream journal -- if you're in the habit of remembering your dreams,
- you are more likely to remember a lucid dream. And also, again,
- it gets your conscious mind thinking about dreaming a lot... Read
- through the dream journal once in awhile for the same reasons. It's
- also really weird to look at things written in your handwriting, but
- you don't remember writing them (because you'd just woken up), and you
- don't at first remember having the dream. :)

- Tell yourself, just before bed, that you will have a lucid dream
- tonight, and that you will remember it.

- Try to remain conscious as long as possible before falling asleep.
- Try to watch with a sort of detached awareness as sleep sets in and
- dream images begin to form...

- There are other things you can do, such as setting an alarm to go off
- 90 min. before you're supposed to wake up, get up with that alarm &
- then go back to sleep, trying to "fall" back into your last dream, etc...
- I think the Lucid Dreaming FAQ that is posted here periodically
- probably can give more information if you want/need anything beyond
- the above ideas...
