  12. Looking for pointers to over-the-counter devices that take in standard
  13. US telephonic signals, watch for DTMF, and write converted output,
  14. say, ASCII, to RS-232 serial ports.

  16. Ideal situation, although not required: multiple DTMF jack inputs,
  17. multiplexed RS-232 output---say, via some ASCII convention identifying
  18. source input jack along with the converted data.

  20. Bidirectionality useful, but not necessary.  Full telephone signal
  21. processing not necessary.  Aesthetic packaging not necessary.

  23. Prefer a low cost, stand-alone, dedicated device---not a bus board,
