- Well. I'm not going to get into a long, drawn out argument about this,
- (then again, who knows, but...)
-
- I would not judge all the people orbiting around the 'Cyberpunk' movement,
- buzz word, what-have-you, by the wannabes and the infatuated kinds, just as
- I would not judge the intellectual atmosphere of a university by a bunch of
- drunken freshman frat pledges.
-
- Not everyone involved in the so-called 'movement' is technically inept, with
- the I.Q. of produce. Some people find the material intellectually stimulating,
- if not somewhat far-fetched at times. Either way, it gives you something to
- think about. Granted, a few people blindly follow what is esposed by their
- gods, but I'm sure some take the time to do further research.
- (e.g., actually _build_ a robot, find the research on smart drugs and realize
- that they are ineffective, try to write a virtual reality or artificial life
- program, etc. etc. etc.)
-
- One person (or a small, non-representative group of people) do not a culture
- make.
-
- p.s. - I listen to techno, house, and industrial while I program artificially
- intelligent tutoring systems at work. I also happen to listen to classical.
- I also happen to drive an '83 Pontiac on its last legs. I also happen to
- eat Cheerios for breakfast. "I wanna be stereotyped! I wanna be classified!"
- - Circle Jerks
-
- P.P.S. - I used to have a purple mohawk about 8 years ago. I grew out of that,
- too.
