  19. The "assumption" that homosexuals act different from heterosexuals is
  20. another sweeping generalization typically a cause for the rise of the
  21. problems of discourse on the board recently.  But the fact remains that
  22. a pretty serious percentage of homosexuals *do* act quite strangely (by
  23. majority standards, sexual practices aside).  My SO's male friends are, 
  24. except for 4 exceptions, homosexuals.  It's just a side effect of her
  25. profession, *THEY* say (not she says).  Of this group of 40 or more gay
  26. men, there are *maybe* 10 that act within the confines of normal society
  27. enough for me (and many of *MY* friends) to interact with comfortably.  The
  28. majority are the flaming queen stereotypes that have given homosexual men
  29. such a bad rap and Eddie Murphy and Andrew Clay so much gay-bashing material.
  30. I knew some of these men before they came out, and some even WHEN they came
  31. out, and the changes (literally overnight) were astounding.  I am now, and
  32. have been for the last 13 years, a ballet dancer.  They number of gay mne in
  33. dance is disproportionate, regardless of what my instructors say.  And the
  34. mix for the men I've danced with (aforementioned behavioral differences) is
  35. about the same.  
  36. I believe that to make sweeping generalizations is something of a sin, but
  37. to ignore or refute standing evidence to the contrary is equally strange.
