- After all the good press "The Killer" has been getting I got it out on
- video and after looking at the video cover, I was quite unprepared for
- the polished movie that it was - it even had some (dare I say) real old-
- fashioned *cinema magic* about it. The killer himself and the heroine
- oozed charm in the quieter scenes and the fine cinematography and music
- would easily blow away a lot of Hollywood features (with the bland
- "production-line" filming and music that is so off-putting).
-
- Unfortunately we found the tense scenes ranged in quality a bit - we
- guffawed at the "I want you to kill me!" line and even though the action
- made it a bit of a roller coaster ride, it was eventually weighed down
- by ridiculousness (almost Busby-Berkeley death routines and a dreadful
- baddies-gun-against-girl's-head cliche) which really ruined it for me.
-
- So what I want to know is: are there any *four-star* cult movies or
- is it part of the definition of a "cult" movie that it is a let-down
- somewhere along the track?
-
- Is "The Wicker Man" a cult movie? (I really enjoyed that, and as far
- as I know, it's faultless) and would anyone like to email me with other
- suggestions of really top-notch ones?
