- Well, when I WAS EIGHT, one of the Networks (in Australia) ran a horror
- movie festival during the day-time (this in in 1971!), for kids at home
- for their school holidays. Most of them were pretty blase, but one movie
- that made an impression (yeah!) was SOUND OF HORROR, an Italian or
- Spanish film dubbed into English. The story is as follows:
-
- Archeologists go to small mexican valley where they unearth "petrified
- eggs" about the size of an Emu egg. They take one back to the small
- deserted cabin, but leave the other in THE CAVE, where is opens
- (unattended) and a blob appears, then turns invisible.
-
- That night one of the scientists, working alone (naturally) is torn to
- shreads by an invisible creature. The body count rises, and the
- scientists are baricaded inside their small cabin. Finally they make a
- run for it, but the creature catches them....
-
- I won't spoil the ending for you, but I was so terrified I ran and hid in
- my bedroom. I never told my mother how this film effected me, but the
- Networks never ran horror movies during the day-time again...
-
- And I must confess, TV was always a little dull after that... Well, until
- THE HAUNTING, that winter...
