- Well, for some odd reason, I've never gotten to see THX, but I've always
- thought Dark Star was one of the best space-movie parodies ever made. It
- has some of the best low-budget special effects ever in a space movie.
-
- The movie began as a thesis project for Carpenter, working with Dan O'Bannon,
- but when Carpenter dropped out of USC, he took the movie, blew it up to 35mm,
- and got funding to finish it.
