  17. I read it. 90% of the material could have been pulled from the radio show 
  18. Dave Emory has been working on in the bay area for years. In Emory's opinion
  19. and my own, Vankin just wrote down pretty much what he heard on the radio
  20. and verified the sources.  Emory goes into this in detail in some tapes 
  21. available from Archives on Audio in San Francisco, CA.

  23. I've met Emory a few times and we have some friends in common-though we
  24. never exactly hit it off.  I do consider the pieces on Emory in the book
  25. to be unfair and insulting. Vankin assured Emory that he wouldn't be writing
  26. a hit piece, which is what I saw the book as being. Vankin also indicated
  27. he would give Emory credit for the areas where he did original reasearch or
  28. brought together a variety of sources into one place-it was on this
  29. pretense that Emory spent as much time with him as he did. In my opinion Vankin
  30. failed to keep his word.

  36. Well, keep in mind that the book is published by a company controlled by
  37. Rev. Moon. Moon is one of the _major_ figures in neo-fascism in America,
  38. IMHO(some of his major funding comes from the wonderful folks that brought
  39. you Pearl Harbor-quite literally some of the same folks that funded the
  40. rise of Japanese militarism).

  42. The omission of Moon from the book must have been a ploy to get published
  43. and to get national distribution. If you like Rev. Moon and his cause,
  44. go ahead and buy the book-but I suggest you research this character a little
  45. first. Vankin knew who he was dealing with(i.e. a friend of mine talked to
  46. him about it)-it didn't matter to him. Vankin is, IMHO, an opportunist and
  47. a writer with too little creativity to get his own matterial an too much
  48. vanity to give full credit when he borrows ideas.
