MOST?!  Jeffrey, resorting to hyperbole and insulting the many, many working
women in this country will only get you justifyably flamed.

No, I am not in favor of welfare mothers.  Yes, I do know some of them should
be out and working.  But then there's my friend, Jennie, married, three kids,
a husband who is dying of emphysema.  He can't be left alone, she tries to
work part time to augment the medicaid payments (that only cover her husband
and two of the kids) and food stamps and rent assistance they get.  What
would you do?  Stick the husband into a nursing home which would cost MUCH
more money than the help they get?  Or just shoot him?  Jennie would LOVE
to work to support her family.   And, eventually, when her husband is gone,
she intends to do so.  But right now, she needs all the help she can get,
and more.  Just this last week, she had to come up with new glasses for her
oldest daughter (not covered under Medicaid), and also wisdom teeth surjury
for the same daughter (also not covered).
Yes, we have a serious problem with welfare women in this country.  We also
have a government that refuses to provide birth control for these women.
Did you know that the list of women who would like to have the Norform
birth control implants is enormous?  But our fundie controlled system
refuses to fund any money for welfare women to get Norform implants, even
though it only costs a mere fraction of the amount it takes to support a
child until it is grown.
