  14.     I just thoguth I'd share this...  It always amazes me at how
  15.     intelligent and trusting fish can become (especially when they
  16.     are hungry ;)...

  18.     I've been keeping fish (various phases/types) since I was 11 years
  19.     old (I'm 27 now).

  21.     People never believe me when I say that fish make great pets...

  23.     Just the other day I was trying to reprime a filter siphon
  24.     when my sunfish (a young bluegill that I caught with hook and worm,
  25.     actually about 20 worms!  He kept stripping my hook!) and oscar
  26.     came whipping up to where my hands were just above the surfacve of the 
  27.     water.  They stayed there watching, and when I went to dip the tube
  28.     into the water, they wouldn't move!!  I tried to shoo them, then I
  29.     lifted the tube out of the water and the sunfish jumped for my fingers!
  30.     Well, i put my hands back in the water to get the siphon going and my
  31.     oscar swam over and bit the tip of one of my fingers!  It sounds like
  32.     I never feed them, but I feed them 3 times daily and supplement with
  33.     at least 80 goldfish a week!!! (There are other heavy eaters in the
  34.     tank).

  36.     The funny thing is when I have guests over... the fish all kind of
  37.     shy away from the front and top of the tank.  They definitely know
  38.     me from others.

  40.     Another story that happened awhile ago was with my favorite oscar
  41.     (who died some years ago .. choked on a tankmate that was just
  42.     too large to eat) who was VERY intelligent.  Besides having him
  43.     trained to do a few tricks (seriously), he knew me very well.  He
  44.     would let me pet him with my hands...  but if my brother or father
  45.     stuck there hands in (this is true) he would attack them... not for
  46.     food, but like a cichlid challenging another cichlid infringing on
  47.     his territory...
