  15. An associate has been doing research for a report on Abraham Lincoln for his 
  16. African American Studies class.  He mentioned over lunch yesterday that he
  17. had heard a story that, as a child, Abe had an African woman as a nanny who 
  18. raised him.  And that this woman was _really_ his natural mother!

  20. I grew up in Illinois and my first reaction was one of ethnocentric 
  21. disbelief:  Gee wiz, I didn't think they had room for a nanny in a one room 
  22. log cabin!
