- The Spinoza text I was reading is an abridged version, from an
- anthology, but it is entitled "Ethics", and the first chapeter is called
- "Of God". Following the first chapter, he lays down a foundation for
- ethics that is built on what he says in the chapter "Of God". So,
- perhaps something is missing from my text, but it looks like Spinoza is
- using God as a basis for Ethics.
-
- It is my firmly held (though as yet unfounded :-) belief that Ethics is
- independent of deity, so Spinoza was not helping...
-
- Note: I have been corrected from several people regarding Spinoza's
- background. I apologize for the inaccuracy, and I apologize for the
- use of the term "Judeo-Christian", as it has offended some.
