  15. Sorry, but this is in error.  There is excellent (though somewhat 
  16. circumstantial) evidence that Tay Sachs confers resisitance to
  17. tuberculosis in the heterozygous state.  This corresponds well to the
  18. population wherein Tay Sachs first seemed to reach high density,
  19. namely medieval ghetto dwellers.  Tuberculosis was endemic in the
  20. ghetto.
