- Sorry, but this is in error. There is excellent (though somewhat
- circumstantial) evidence that Tay Sachs confers resisitance to
- tuberculosis in the heterozygous state. This corresponds well to the
- population wherein Tay Sachs first seemed to reach high density,
- namely medieval ghetto dwellers. Tuberculosis was endemic in the
- ghetto.
