- I should add, so that Josh Knauer will not inadvertently
- deviate from the party line, that in connection with a previous
- thread, the environmentalists indignantly rejected the idea
- that they owe the public any mention of possible negative
- aspects of their proposals. The only argument offered was
- that they always propose doing nothing, and it is up to the
- people proposing doing something to evaluate its negative
- impacts. [Thus it is not up to Nader to mention the number
- of children who might be killed through the non-use of
- microwave ovens.]
-
- That's all very well, but anyone who is not committed to
- an environmentalist organization should remember that
- environmentalist proposals are made without any analysis
- of possible negative effects [at least not any that they
- are willing to let the public look at]. Also any science
- cited is likely to be selected to support their proposals,
- i.e. is lawyers' science.
