  17. I should add, so that Josh Knauer will not inadvertently
  18. deviate from the party line, that in connection with a previous 
  19. thread, the environmentalists indignantly rejected the idea
  20. that they owe the public any mention of possible negative
  21. aspects of their proposals.  The only argument offered was
  22. that they always propose doing nothing, and it is up to the
  23. people proposing doing something to evaluate its negative
  24. impacts.  [Thus it is not up to Nader to mention the number
  25. of children who might be killed through the non-use of
  26. microwave ovens.]

  28. That's all very well, but anyone who is not committed to
  29. an environmentalist organization should remember that
  30. environmentalist proposals are made without any analysis
  31. of possible negative effects [at least not any that they
  32. are willing to let the public look at].  Also any science
  33. cited is likely to be selected to support their proposals,
  34. i.e. is lawyers' science.
