  27. Actually, the TNC achieves a lot of its success by "selling" land to
  28. governments (primarily the Feds).  If you look at their financial
  29. statements, income from the sale of land to governments is about 150%
  30. of the income from member donations. Sorry I don't have the figures handy.

  32. Although I'm a strong supporter of TNC, the preserve system that they've
  33. established is incredibly small compared the amount of public land in
  34. the United States.  Their preserve system is only around 1,000,000 acres.
  35. (does anyone have exact figures?).

  37. If a Libertarian government were suddenly to sell off all the public lands,
  38. outfits like TNC and DU would be able to purchase only a tiny percentage.
  39. While Libertarianism has some good principles on which its based, (like
  40. Communism does), it takes a lot more than a few principles to operate 
  41. a government or a civilization.
