-
- first of all, i never said that aids wasn't a serious problem, but there have
- been bigger problems before (i.e. polio), and we are spending more money (as a
- percentage of our GDP) on aids than on any other disease EVER!
-
- secondly, (i thought the number was around 1 million, but in any case...) there
- are close to 250 million people in this country, and less than 1% of the people
- being afflicted with the disease hardly constitutes an epidemic...besides, the
- overwhelming majority of aids victims are "high risk" cases...that's a life-
- style choice, and spending money on research won't change that...yes, i'm
- aware that the number of heterosexual aids cases is growing rapidly, but many
- of those are very promiscuious people (i.e "high risk", and again a lifestyle
- choice)...the simple fact is that aids activists have blown the whole story
- out of proportion.
