- Mistuh Fred Jacob McCall plus an all star cast of losers sit
- in a tight closet and flatulate at each other:
-
- > ...gets his feathers ruffled...Really? You know, you're so
- > stupid that...assume that I CARE about...Pull his strings...
- > You bet, old Posturer...sinks in that YOU are the cause of the
- > problem?...and not attribute your petty fits of temper to me...
- > Don't you get it yet?...Squawk on...Gee, I don't know. You seem
- > to...Get back in touch if you ever...Oh my! You sure showed him
- > did You?...Gee, obviously for the same reason you do.

- Evolution has provided humans with natural heirarchical mechanisms
- to escape pointless loops like this this one. For example, if these
- people were standing face to face, they would have visual clues about
- each other which would enable them to sort themselves into some sort
- of loose ranking. Any debate which arises would be quickly settled,
- and from that point onwards, the geekier members of the group would
- tend to defer to the less geeky ones. Of course, these particular
- specimens clearly represent the lowest common denominator. In any
- natural setting, they would occupy the lowest ranks of the heirarchical
- structure and much of their effort would be spent attempting to curry
- favor from their superiors. One can only assume that this is actually
- the case, and that these specimens use their computers to escape the
- unpleasantness of their "real" worlds as often as possible.
-
- Unfortunately (for them and for us), this escape is but an illusion.
- Whereas Usenet is a miracle to people possessing good communication
- skills, it is a trap for losers, because it deprives them of any natural
- way out of the pointless debate loops which they fall into so easily.
- As many of us have realized, the Usenet environment is intrinsicly dry
- and blind and it is up to its inhabitants to injecting deeper meanings
- and feelings into their words and arguments in order to accomplish
- anything worthwhile, be it art, debate, or pure transformation of
- information. But those who are deficient in verbal and mental skills
- can only exchange clublike blows with with eachother ad nauseum.
-
- No matter. The plight of the weak minded is of no consequence to the
- rest of us. They gravitate towards eachother very nicely. Just shut
- the closet door on 'em and tiptoe back to the party.
