- Is this a joke? I've added alt.flame to the distribution list so here
- goes (This is my first flame; kind of exciting, eh?).

- First off, of the acts that are mentioned above only one has issued its
- first release after 1977, that being Vanilla Ice, probably the most
- derivative artist of the entire rap genre. Your first problem is
- you need to take a listen to some more music, hopefully some of it
- developed after 1977. The UK bands you name were indeed great, but
- the examples of US groups you name don't do justice to the country that
- invented rock and roll. You also do serious injustice to Micheal Jackson,
- who whether you realize it or not did record prior to THRILLER and has
- contributed numerous great tracks to popular music. The last thing I'd like
- to do is just list a few quality American bands that you should
- check out, if you already haven't: (my apologies if any of these bands aren't
- actually American)
-
- Talking Heads, X, Primus, Phish, Spin Doctors, Radiators, Meters, Neville
- Bros, Parliament/Funkadelic, the JBs, Metallica, Anthrax, Black Crowes,
- Allman Brothers, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Public Enemy, Digital
- Underground, Arrested Development, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone,
- J Geils Band, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kinsey Repor,
- Professor Longhair, Grateful Dead, New Grass Revival, Bela Fleck and the
- Flecktones, Firehose, Defunkt, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and what the F--k,
- old VAN HALEN!!!!
