- No! ohmigod! ohmigosh! please, give it a rest.
-

- Again, the knee-jerk reaction misses the point. I'm not asking for more
- social programs. Shit, I work and pay way too much into our welfare system
- as it is. The POINT is that the "pro-life" camp wants to regulate
- womens right to control here own body, but they don't want to take care
- of that human being when it is no longer a cute defenseless little
- ball of giggling flesh. Get it?
-
- >And it scares me more the restraints that they are

- >the power to do that for me.
-
- I agree. The gov't has NO business regulating morality or what I do with
- my body as long as I cause no one else any harm. period. Amerika is not
- free and is getting worse every year the xtian right is in power.
-
- >IMO, the economy is in the bad shape its

- >passed so corporations would quit "messing up the environment" and the same
- >people who pushed to limit corporate profit and control are the same
- >ones who are now complaining about layoffs because big business cannot
- >afford to stay "big" due to these changes. I'm not saying the changes

- >them money which means they will not be able to employ as many people. So
- >the people must determine whether they would rather preserve the unions,
- >protect the environment, charge higher taxes to these huge corporations which
- >slows the economy or modify some of these changes to allow corporations
- >to fluorish and provide more jobs.
-
- No flameage, however, deregulation of corporate amerika will give rise to
- rampant pollution, unsafe working conditions, and unsafe products. The
- reason the gov't has to regulate industry is that industrial leadership
- is too greedy and myopic to be responsible for its actions. Sad but true.
- So, rather than shape up, amerikan corp. shipped out for 3rd world/developing
- nations where exploitation of all resources was met with little/no
- resistance. What I think we are witnessing is the collapse of capitalism
- (as we know it) and an eventual return to a more sane and less consumptive
- way of living. In short, the type of consumer society we've built in
- this country since the 50's is so out of balance with what is required
- to live comfortably and so out of balance with what the earth can provide,
- it is bound to collapse.
