- The earth rolled up its skirts and presented a bare landscape to the
- indifferent sky. Far away in the night a silent couple work with
- sweat stinging their eyes. Slowly they unroll a length of shag
- carpet, a hairy remnant from the high days of the mid-seventies.
- Carefully inching forward and clearing scattered clothing the woman
- brushes the edge of a bed with her shoulder. The game is up, she
- rears back on her haunches and opens fire on the sleeping figure
- in the bed. The room dances in the shadows cast by the sweeping
- automatic fire.
