-
- }Actually, if you simply wait long enough I will respond. You've
- }been around t.a. as long as I have, Galen. You know I can sometimes
- }take weeks to respond. Especially when someone else has already
- }posted information separately confirming what I've said.
-
- It saddens me a bit to involve Mr. Porter in this exchange. I have found
- him to be one of the more reasonable people in this group. However,
- Mr. Porter suggests that someone else has already posted information
- separately confirming what he has said, which I might remind him is that
- "Abortion stops a beating heart." He called that a "simple fact."
- It is not. It is not true that abortion stops a beating heart, nor
- is the existance of a heart a necessary condition for abortion. In
- fact, it is never (to be fair, in the sources I looked at) mentioned at
- all much less as a condition of abortion.
-
- }> Asserting that "abortion stops a beating heart" is rather like saying
- }> that "airplane crashes kill people." Sure, some crashes kill people,
- }> others every passenger and the pilot walk away from (they are called
- }> landings).
-
- }Uhhh, yeah. You sure do have one humdinger of a dictionary there,
- }don't you Galen?
-
- Several of them. I am not a lexicographer or an M.D. I merely fix computers
- for folks who are doctors and do the word processing for them. As I have
- access to their offices, I sometimes look in their dictionaries.
-
- }I suppose you would see nothing wrong with my
- }telling you that my parents were in six plane crashes during
- }their recent vacation. Should I call up my brothers and tell
- }them that? Or do you think they just might misunderstand?
-
- No, I don't see anything wrong in telling me that, in fact, you did. I,
- myself, am a pilot (albeit a rather poor one, but a pilot nonetheless).
- I don't know what your brothers have to do with this, or their supposed
- misunderstanding, although I'll include that my own brother is a pilot too.
- It seems the thing to do to bring brothers into the picture.
-
- }> Mr. Clausen -- Mr. Porter -- have you anything to say? Or you hoping this
- }> subject will go away and die?
-
- }And I thought I was just going to scan t.a. and go home... Looks
- }like I've got one more followup before I go home. Stand by.
-
- Standing. Oh, and if you can prove that your dictionary can beat up
- my dictionary (actually I checked several) then you can rest assured that
- I will humbly appoligize.
-
- }Oh, and BTW...
-
- }> It sure seems to me that the people who would legislate against (in this
- }> case) abortion don't know what the hell they are talking about.
-
- }Do you have me confused with someone else? When have I proposed
- }legislating against abortion?
-
- I didn't state at all that you proposed legislating against abortion. I
- stated that those who do don't seem to know what they are talking about.
- That's a bit different than stating that those who don't know what they
- are talking about propose legislation against abortion. Shoot, a lot of
- people who don't know what they are talking about don't propose any
- legislation. Some of them still feel free to assert that things like
- "Abortion stops a beating heart" constitute a "simple fact."
