  29. I could not agree more, Keith.  I also think values can
  30. be taught in terms of academics, in ways we could almost 
  31. all agree on.  In teaching someone to read and write, teaching 
  32. them that plaigarism is an abuse of that process is also 
  33. appropriate.

  35. A good, well-rounded sex ed program, IMHO, should attempt 
  36. to impart some understanding of the emotional vulnerability 
  37. that often accompanies sexual intimacy.  I don't think 
  38. it would violate most folks' values to point out that it's a 
  39. good idea to be cautious of the feelings involved in sexual 
  40. situations.  In that context, I have no problem with sex ed 
  41. presenting abstinence as an emotionally healthy response to 
  42. the problems of pubescent sexuality.

  44. NB: I have a vested interest in persuading teens that the
  45. postponement of sexual activity can be a Good Thing.
