- Isn't the trouble with this defense that it depends on the
- political views of the judge as to whether it works? Then
- we have not rule by law but rule by judges. I'm reminded
- of Amy Carter's acquittal after blocking access to CIA
- on-campus interviews several years back. The "necessity
- defense" seemed incredibly silly in that context, but it
- worked.
