- The FDA has no role in allowing people to import drugs that are
- not FDA approved. The FDA approves drugs for sale in the US only.
- The customs service has jurisdiction over what can be imported
- or is confiscated. The customs service made a decision not to
- allow RU-486 to be imported. They do have statuatory authority,
- given by congress, to forbid import of any drug not FDA approved,
- but haven't been doing so until now for those bringing in drug
- for personal use.
