  12. The following appeared in the IBDlist mailing list. I was aware of
  13. some of the dangers of steroids and Chicken Pox, but had other
  14. questions. Does anyone have access to the FDA alert mentioned?
  15. Do inhaled steroids (Beclovent, Beconase) pose as great of a risk?

  31. If your or your child is taking corticosteriod drugs such as prednisone,
  32. you should be aware of a recent warning from the Food and Drug
  33. Administration.  Noting that people who take these medications may be
  34. at increased risk of severe, possibly fatal, infections if exposed
  35. to chicken pox or measles, the FDA has ordered pharmaceutical
  36. companies to add a warning to the labeling of corticosteriods.

  38. Measures can be taken to protect patients against complications.  Please
  39. consult your doctor.
