- The following appeared in the IBDlist mailing list. I was aware of
- some of the dangers of steroids and Chicken Pox, but had other
- questions. Does anyone have access to the FDA alert mentioned?
- Do inhaled steroids (Beclovent, Beconase) pose as great of a risk?
-
- Thanks

- Steroid Drug Alert
- ------------------
-
- If your or your child is taking corticosteriod drugs such as prednisone,
- you should be aware of a recent warning from the Food and Drug
- Administration. Noting that people who take these medications may be
- at increased risk of severe, possibly fatal, infections if exposed
- to chicken pox or measles, the FDA has ordered pharmaceutical
- companies to add a warning to the labeling of corticosteriods.
-
- Measures can be taken to protect patients against complications. Please
- consult your doctor.
