- Nystatin is the stuff in jock itch spray. I suppose they make it taste
- better, though. It doesn't work, and they know it. The thrush will
- probably clear up on its own. If it doesn't, go to an old drugstore
- and get Gentian Violet. It clears it up within a day or two. The only
- problem is that it looks like the kid's been sucking on a pen. Everyone
- you meet will say, "Excuse me, did you notice your kid sucked on a pen?"
-
- We tried the Nystatin for a long time with no luck so our doctor finally
- told me Gentian Violet is the only thing that worked. I asked her why
- she didn't say so in the first place, and she said that it usually goes away
- by itself. I said so why didn't she just prescribe the Gentian Violet?
- "Problems with compliance." I guess most people don't want their kid
- looking like the Rocky Horror guy.
-
- It is unusual for an older baby to get thrush. It never seemed to cause
- my baby pain. Maybe he as foot-and-mouth disease or something else?
