  27. Nystatin is the stuff in jock itch spray.  I suppose they make it taste
  28. better, though.  It doesn't work, and they know it.  The thrush will
  29. probably clear up on its own.  If it doesn't, go to an old drugstore
  30. and get Gentian Violet.  It clears it up within a day or two.  The only
  31. problem is that it looks like the kid's been sucking on a pen.  Everyone
  32. you meet will say, "Excuse me, did you notice your kid sucked on a pen?"

  34. We tried the Nystatin for a long time with no luck so our doctor finally
  35. told me Gentian Violet is the only thing that worked.  I asked her why
  36. she didn't say so in the first place, and she said that it usually goes away
  37. by itself.  I said so why didn't she just prescribe the Gentian Violet?
  38. "Problems with compliance."  I guess most people don't want their kid
  39. looking like the Rocky Horror guy.

  41. It is unusual for an older baby to get thrush.  It never seemed to cause
  42. my baby pain.  Maybe he as foot-and-mouth disease or something else?
