  15. I had something which seems similar several years ago.  It occurred after
  16. taking Antibiotics for a few weeks.  My mouth and tongue developed many
  17. ulcer like lesions which the MD attributed to the Antibiotics killing
  18. my own natural bacteria.  I started eating yogurt with active
  19. bacterial cultures to help get them started again.  He also gave me a
  20. zylocaine syrup to swish around in my mouth to help with the pain.
  21. I don't know if this is related to your son's problem but it would be
  22. worth looking into.
