- RS> Has anyone ever used botulismotoxin for pain relief in RSD?
- RS> How about tetanus toxin? (Injecting small
- RS> doses into affected centers)
- RS> (Don't laugh. It has been used or suggested to treat dystonia).
-
- WH> Botulinum toxin injection _is painful_.
- WH> Have you tried capsaicin (zostrix)? Some people say it helps in RSD.
- WH> It is an over-the-counter herbal remedy (from jalepeno peppers).
-
- I can't say that I have tried capsaicin (Zostrix) for anything. I do not
- have RSD or Dystonia, but thank you anyway. I am a medical researcher.
- About the closest that to capsaicin (which inhibits substance p) is when
- I eat Mexican or Chinese foods (or Put hot peppers on my cheese steak).
- I am working with an intervention that might help people with various problems
- with pain (it is in clinical trials).
- I can't be specific about it right now, but I can say that I am working with
- an intervention that another Doctor is testing for use in pain
- control.
