- |Increasing atmospheric CO2 will increase agricultural productivity? Hmmm. I
- |would be interested in reading documentation about this. I have always been
- |under the impression that most plants are very efficient CO2 engines, and
- |that, unlike phosphorus, CO2 is not a biolimiting compound.
-
- True, but other, related, factors often are biolimiting.
-
- For instance, there is a very large amount of land near the Arctic Circle
- (All of Alaska, Northwest Territories, the northern parts of Saskatchewan,
- and Alberta, and most of Siberia - many millions of square miles).
- With any significant warming these frigid lands become part of the
- wheat belt. Voila, at least a doubling of available wheat acerage.
- (Think - Siberia as fertile as Kansas! - that's lots of wheat)
-
- And I think the original poster had other effects yet in mind.
