  12. Is anyone here a member of the National Society of Professional
  13. Engineers (NSPE)? Any opinions of it?

  15. I am currently a grad student in electrical/computer engineering
  16. and am a student member of the IEEE. After passing my E-I-T exam
  17. I received an invitation to join the NSPE, but I "filed" it be-
  18. fore really considering it (I was also working at the time and
  19. didn't think it was worth the cost). Now, as I near my eligibil-
  20. ity for taking the PE exam, I think it is worth considering. Al-
  21. so, I think they had low cost student memberships available.

  23. I vaguely remember reading in _EE Times_ about IEEE vs. NSPE bat-
  24. tles. I am definitely for a professional engineering group which
  25. promotes all engineering and not just specialties. Whether or not
  26. registration should be required is another matter--I am personally
  27. for it, but realize that it'd be almost impossible to implement.
