- I thought the way they make CD's with a longer running time was to use the
- extra space on the edge of the disc. The European style of CD, where the
- entire disc is coated with aluminium allows this. The Japanese method,
- with the clear centre area, and outer rim seems to be restricted to a
- running time of a bit above 70 min. The longest time I have seen is some
- 82 min, and it is a Deutsche Gramophon disc.
