  20. When I lived there, (in Coventry, 90miles norh of London) they also used to  
  21. print the names of people so convicted in the local newspaper, partly as a  
  22. warning to other people.

  24. I seem to recall that the detector vans were readily identifiable as such, and  
  25. I guess this was in part to scare people who saw them on the street into buying  
  26. a licence.
