- I want to use a PAL or equivalent in a low power application.
- So far, the best I've done is a NS GAL20V8, quarter power.
-
- Allegedly this part is CMOS (EEPROM), but I measured about 30 mA
- sucked in, when nothing was clocking it. Doesn't sound like
- CMOS to me (ie uA standby current).
-
- I also want to use AMD's Palasm software (it's all I have),
- and some of the fancier GALs claim to be logically compatible,
- but they don't burn in the same way (if I try to substitute a PAL20L8
- for example)
-
- Just for reference: 30 mA isn't low power for a PAL/GAL, when
- a 6811, RAM, ROM, Serial line driver, LCD display, keyboard scanner & latch
- etc all TOGETHER take about 35 mA! (running even)
